As a cosmopolitan being, I met a rural settlement near the Walloon border. Once precisely 72 kilometers away from home, I was overwhelmed by the monotony of landscape, mud, and chapels. There I managed to grasp homely elements that represent Lauw as a village.
Lauw is a borough of Tongeren, naturally located in the province of Belgian Limburg. The name originates from Luta, which means mud or marsh in Celtic. The village is part of the fruity region of Haspengouw. Lauw is then divided by the river Jeker, which flows through major cities like Tongeren and Maastricht.
